Details

Monstera Minima (Rhaphidophora tetrasperma) is a fast-growing and stylish climbing plant, loved for its delicate, split leaves and compact growth habit. Despite its name, it isn’t a true Monstera, but its glossy, fenestrated foliage gives it that iconic tropical look on a smaller, more manageable scale.

With slender stems and vibrant green leaves, Monstera minima adds instant jungle charm to shelves, desks, or climbing up a moss pole or trellis.

Perfect for bright indoor spaces, this plant can be grown as a trailing feature or trained to climb for a more upright, architectural display. Its lush foliage and rapid growth make it a favourite for both new and experienced plant lovers alike.

Plant care

Monstera minima prefers a free-draining, well-aerated potting mix to support healthy root growth. Water when the top few centimetres of soil feel dry, ensuring excess water can drain away. While it enjoys regular watering, it does not like sitting in wet soil.

This plant thrives in bright, indirect light, which encourages strong growth and well-defined leaf splits. It can tolerate lower light levels, but growth may slow and leaves may remain smaller. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the foliage.

Average indoor temperatures between 18–27°C are ideal.

Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser during the growing season (spring and summer) to support active growth. Reduce watering and feeding during the cooler months when growth naturally slows.
